Lecture Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
1. Define key terms such as “character development” and “role interpretation” in
the context of Christian drama.
2. Identify the spiritual responsibilities associated with portraying characters in
faith-based performances.
3. Analyze a script to extract character objectives, emotional states, and conflicts
using provided character development tools.
4. Create a detailed Character Bible/Worksheet for a given role, including
background, spiritual state, voice tone, movement style, and relationships.
5. Demonstrate biblical alignment and spiritual sensitivity in role portrayal
during a performance or rehearsal.
6. Apply emotion memory and “In Their Shoes” techniques to embody character
traits authentically and with sanctified emotional depth.
7. Differentiate between protagonist, antagonist, comic relief, and transformed
character roles, explaining appropriate interpretation strategies for each.
8. Evaluate their own and others’ performances for alignment with scriptural
values, emotional authenticity, and effectiveness in ministry.
9. Avoid common mistakes such as overacting, misrepresentation, or shallow
interpretation by applying critical reflection and peer feedback.
