Lecture Objectives:
By the end of this lecture, students will be able to:
1. Define acting and explain its core purpose, especially in the context of
Christian drama.
2. Identify and describe the five key elements of good acting: believability,
emotional connection, voice and diction, body language, and listening/reacting.
3. Demonstrate appropriate vocal techniques (e.g., projection, diction, variation
in tone and pace) through in-class warm-up exercises.
4. Perform basic emotional expressions (e.g., joy, fear, sadness) using facial
expressions and body language during mirror or improv exercises.
5. Apply principles of stage presence (e.g., eye contact, stillness, movement,
energy) in a short monologue or scene.
6. Participate in at least two improvisational acting games to build spontaneity
and responsive listening skills.
7. Recognize and correct at least three common acting mistakes (e.g.,
overacting, breaking character, mumbling) during practice scenes.
8. Explain the spiritual dimension of Christian acting, referencing relevant
scripture (e.g., 2 Timothy 2:15, Colossians 3:23), and discuss how this influences
their performance choices.
